OK, for those of you out there with perfect pitch: What is the name of that piece of music that begins with what I believe is a trumpet playing C, G, C, followed by a c major chord and then a c minor in quick succession? It's usually played for dramatic effect.

Flight of the bumble bee? I don't have perfect pitch; I'm just guessing.

If you can give me an example where I might be able to hear it, I might be able to tell you. Also, the tempo would help. Is it slow, fast, is it a fanfare or a salute?

Fanfare I think. Those first three notes are played slowly, and then the c major and c minor in quick succession. I guess it's usually played on TV or in movies when something exciting is happening, or about to happen.

I believe this is what you mean. The sunrise movement from Richard Strauss.
